Winged Cupid

$ 195.00

Although from the 18th century, with the same subject and also in stucco, the original of this clone is profoundly different from the cherubs of Serpotta and his school: in this modelled head there is no attempt at realism, no softness, and the face is marked by deep, sharp incisions. The expression of the smile is obtained here as if the strength to swell the cheeks, to move the eyebrows and the cheekbones, came from within the material. Elected as the symbol of the Baroque age, the cherub is an angelic, infantile figure, much used by painters too and frequently depicted in love scenes.

The clone of the Winged Cherub’s Head is an eco-friendly design object particularly intense in expression, where even the hair appropriates its own space with uncoordinated, nervous movements and the surfaces avoid any lustre: a subject which creates an aura of suspension in time, calling for original, minimal settings and atmospheres such as Kinfolk or Gustavian or even to create surprising corners in Classic or Retro arrangements.

The clone of the Head of the Winged Cherub has such intense shapes that it could be produced in any colour, from the palest to the strongest, and can be used in series with different gradations of the same colour.
