About "Baga" artclone

The original sculpture of this artclone is a rare artistic relic from the Baga population, resident on the west coast of Africa. Carved in wood in the 19th century, it probably represents an “ancestor”, an essential figure to African culture since he would be responsible for maintaining order and harmony within the village, easing suffering, propitiating the harvest and acting as middle-man between earthly and spiritual existence in a essentially animistic religious environment.

This artclone suffuses a surprising harmony due to the combination of shapes in a composition which is touching in spite of its total absence of expressiveness.

The striking originality of its representation would suitably embellish a Minimalist setting, or even Urban or Ethnic Chic environments. Dark colours are recommended for this clone to preserve intact the symbolic force of the original.

frequently asked questions

What are artclones made of?

Artclones are plant-based, does it mean they degrade over time?

Can I display my artclone outdoors?
